A campanha da sociedade civil pela abolição das armas nucleares pode reacender graças ao sucesso das revoltas populares no Egito e na Tunísia, seguidas pelas da Líbia, Bahrein, Iêmen e Jordânia. “Os acontecimentos no Oriente Médio e Norte da África mostram o quanto é frágil a estabilidade quando são ignoradas as necessidades e os desejos do povo”, disse Hirotsugu Terasaki, diretor-adjunto do Escritório de Assuntos da Paz na organização Soka Gakkai International (SGI), com sede em Tóquio.

In an effort to hold Libya accountable for its violent crackdown on protesters, the U.S. and other members of the United Nations Security Council voted in favor of a resolution asking the International Criminal Court to investigate whether the Libyan government has committed crimes against humanity. The ICC announced today that an investigation was found to be warranted and would proceed. (mais…)
